Day 5 – Tokyo Disney

Leigh and I had wanted to go to Tokyo Disney since we got to Tokyo, but it was getting closer to the day we would be leaving for Hiroshima and the weather forecast wasn’t looking good. However last night we checked the weather forecast and we figured today would be our last chance if we wanted to go, so when we got up and saw that it wasn’t going to rain any time soon we packed up and set off. We initially thought that Tokyo Disney was at the end of the line and that it was going to cost about $80 to get there and back, but after studying the map we realized it was actually only a few stops away and probably only cost us $6 return. Entry was about $65 or something, but all the rides were free. There's too much to say about Tokyo Disney, just check out some of the photos. It was really fun and we were exhausted by the end of the day. One interesting thing of note was that they encouraged visitors to come in fancy dress (“cosplay”) and some were so good we couldn’t tell if they were actual actors from the park or visitors.

We're ready for Tokyo Disney, but is it ready for us?

 The Pumpkin King

 and his friend

 Truer words were never spoke

 Fighting the good fight.

 The Disney Resort train line

 "Another photo? Really?"

 Me on the train

Here we go!
Cosplay Goofy and real Goofy hanging out at the entrance

 Cosplay!!

The whole themepark had a halloween theme

Not sure which dwarf this is, but he was very friendly

 BFFs

 Remeniscing with Roy and Minnie

In the world's fair/main street section with our trusty map

The castle was an impressive sight

Lots and lots of shops full of merchandise

Truly the happiest place on earth!

The entrance as seen from further into the park

 Cool optical illusion statues

 Cosplayers

 Hundreds of them!

 and more!

 And even more!

 And the princesses, of course

The world of tomorrow peeking through the trees

Instant Maleficent, just add chin putty

 Even the toilets were impressive

Here we got a "fast-track" ticket for the Haunted Mansion ride. We could queue up for 70mins now to go on it, or we could come back in about five hours and show our ticket and go straight through.

All the main rides had queues of at least an hour. We couldn't be bothered waiting for Splash Mountain.

 Time for my stoutness excercise

Space Mountain. We would come back to go on this.

 More World of Tomorrow.

Goofy was out when we dropped by.

Slowly making our way in the Space Mountain queue.

 Mid-queue entertainment

Still in the Space Mountain queue. It was an indoor rollercoaster in the dark except for stars projected on the walls and roof

Even Oogie Boogie has to check his emails

 Night falls

Finally getting somewhere in the Haunted Mansion queue. We abandoned the quick-pass ticket idea and just queued up.

 The Electric Light Parade.
